              Ashley Joseph Smith is a 2013 graduate of West Virginia University College of Law in Morgantown, West Virginia. A native of West Virginia, Ms. Smith, is a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology from Fairmont State University. 
              While attending West Virginia University College of Law she was a member of the West Virginia Innocence Project. Ms. Smith additionally participated in an externship program with the Federal Public Defender Office of the Northern District of West Virginia where she worked with a mentor attorney to provide legal representation to criminal defendants in West Virginia. Ms. Smith also was a summer intern at the Federal Public Defender Office as well as Legal Aid of West Virginia.
              From 2013-2019, Ms. Smith was an associate attorney with Rose Padden Petty Taylor & Lilly, PLLC in Fairmont, West Virginia. Ms. Smith  is admitted to the West Virginia State Bar Association, as well as both the Northern and Southern District Courts of West Virginia.
Ms. Smith served as the President of the Marion County Bar Association for the year 2018.
